Late notice…

My XBOX360 just “red-ringed” on me the other day (the day before our fast started). Now I have to notify M$ and await a box to mail it to them and wait 2-3 weeks to get it back… I guess this is what I get for telling God I didn’t want to fast XBOX for 21 days, He has a sense of humor like no other. But unlike some I won’t go crazy and kill people because I can’t play what/when I want! That story does have a great bit in it about the dad forgiving the son for killing his wife (kids mom) and for shooting him. Though he is still going to jail for some time.

Fasting…

Currently my church (Church of the Highlands) is participating in a 21 day fast. I’m doing a “Daniel Fast” which allows me to eat Fruits, Vegatables, and Nuts. It’s going pretty well and hope for great things to come of this journey I’m taking with God. I hope to get closer to him and allow him to show me how to be more like his Son; and in turn I can become a better man and a better husband (in April). If you want more info on fasting check out my pastor’s blog.

I’m praying for our marriage and the “once in a lifetime event” – the wedding ceremony. We just found out today (well technically yesterday, Monday) that we may be switching the date to April 18th instead of the 25th for multiple reasons… one of which being the pavilion we wanted is ‘taken’ for the 25th…

That’s it for this update… if anyone actually reads this, let me know what I can do to make my posts more interesting, or relevant!

I don’t do this often enough…

So I’m getting married. I love my fiancée more than anyone that is physically on this earth. Don['t get me wrong... I love my family and friends, but I have spent the past year (almost) getting to know this amazing woman and I haven't had one day where I just don't want to be with her.

People have been saying, since we got engaged, that these months before the wedding will "fly by"... Up until now, I have been calling schnanigans; but I just realized the other day that we've been engaged for 2 months, and don't have any of our wedding "stuff" paid for except her dress. Time has been FLYING BY!

[Edit: December 18th, 2008]

It’s really hard for me to comfort people when I’ve been a part of their pain/discomfort… It’s not that I don’t feel sorry, or that I think they deserve their pain; I just “freeze up”. Normally I can be goofy and cheer people up (especially Elisha). My problem is only “exaserbated” when I’m not even in person and they’re upset. Am I the only one with this problem?!

So I found a pastor that I am starting to like how he ‘preaches’ but am “at odds” with some of his, albeit non-central, thoughts on scripture. His name is Mark Driscoll and he and I think much alike on topics like Joel Olsteen:

Or how we, as Christians, should handle brothers/sisters who are not following Christ’s will. Anyway check him out and let me know what you think!

Wow.. this is ‘harder’ than I thought!

So I wanted to get into putting my thoughts down, so a blog seemed the logical step for a Geek like me. Well this appears to be more challenging (setting aside time to put my thoughts down) that I thought. I never have been the journal type, but the idea of it I LOVE.
So I’m engaged! I love my fiancee with all that I have (with God being the only ‘thing’ higher on my list) in me. She is an amazing woman; she loves God, loves people, and for some reason loves me?! I’ve never thought of myself as “all that” but she makes me feel like I am. I can’t lie, I’m likin’ it! Anywho… We are planning on having our wedding on the beach (currently Gulf Shores/Orange Beach) in late April of 2009 (25th?). The cool thing is that her parents (i.e. – mom) has offered to throw a big after wedding party for all the people who can’t make it to the wedding! Now we can have the small wedding we want, do the reception deal then head off to a Honeymoon. I am praying that God brings some extra income our way so we can have that Honeymoon. This is sparked by the fact I just got car insurance and my “wonderful” youthful decisions a couple years back made my insurance cost $232 per MONTH. This will change in February when I turn 25, and again in March when the last of my tickets go off record; then it will drop again (sort of) in April after the wedding (married w/ multiple car discount; though technically she doesn’t pay for her insurance now, so is that really a drop in price for me?).

WOW, that felt good to say out loud (though I’ve told Elisha about that already). Other than this my life has been going great! We took our “Pre-marital Assesment” on a Scan-tron today… I never thought I would have to take a 170+ question “test” before marriage, then write a bunch of short essays, THEN do pre-marital counseling. But I’ve been told that it’s a great thing by several friends. Thanks for the advice Lynse… “C/3″ all the way!

Well that’s about all for now (maybe more tomorrow; atleast sooner than a month this time…)

Seriously? That’s sad… Claiming diamonds will prevent divorce, isn’t that kind of like claiming leeches will cure cancer? Whatever…

Random Late Night Thought

I have a Zune (Microsoft’s MP3 player) and just moved al music (about 60Gb worth) from my failing external behemoth (in physical size, though only holds 120 Gb) of a HDD to a sleek (and larger capacity, 320 Gb) self powered HDD.

Well my problem now is that I’m having to re-sync my content because I’m a goofus and accidentally deleted all my Zune’s content when swapping drives. Now I’m syncing 6500+ songs which is going to take HOURS! I think I will head to bed, and try to get some sleep, I’ll keep you posted on how my newest adventure with my Zune is going!

Life’s Minuscule Troubles

Have you ever just wanted to get someone out of your life? Not that this person is inherently bad, but just puts you in a bad mood by being around him/her…

I have that feeling a lot around one specific person and the Bible says (1 Corinthians 15:33) that “bad company corrupts good character.” But I don’t know how to tell someone that they annoy me and that, not only can I not hang out with them, I don’t want too!

Oh well, I shall endure this heartache a bit longer until I know how to handle this…
